  Where do we get the forms/information document on the MIDP?
  The information document on the MIDP contains the application forms of the issues dealt with by the ITAC. The information document is not on the web; it is available electronically via email or in hardcopy and will be posted or may be picked up at the DTI Campus. Please contact Mr. Isaac Fenyane at +27 (0) 12 394 3738 or e-mail him at isaac@itac.org.za or isaac@thedti.gov.za in this regard.
  How long will it take to issue an eligible export certificate?
  If it is a renewal, it normally should not take longer than 4 weeks. If it is a new product/manufacturer, it could take up to 5 months as all new manufacturers and new products are visited.
  Will my product qualify under the MIDP?
  A Technical working group and ITAC evaluate the applications. Applicants should submit original applications but may submit photos of the products on e-mail or by way of brochures or photos.
  How will the duty rates of MIDP products be phased down?
  Light motor vehicles (cars, light goods vehicles and minibuses) will phase down from 36% in 2004 to 28% in 2009, i.e. by 2 percentage points per year to 2007, and thereafter by 1 percentage point per year. The rate of duty on original equipment will phase down from 28% in 2004 to 23% in 2009, i.e. by 1 percentage point per year).
  What is going to happen to the MIDP after 2007?
  The review of the MIDP will commence early 2005.
  Does ITAC offer training on the MIDP?
  No, Information Documents on the MIDP were compiled to assist the public.
  When will I get the IRCC?
  The target is to issue an IRCC within 40 working days of receipt of the claim. Information Documents, E/2003 and F/2003 detail the procedures to be followed.
