What is Dumping? |

Dumping means the introduction of goods into the commerce of the Republic or the common customs area of the South African Customs Union at an export price, which is less than the normal value of the goods. |

What anti-dumping duties were imposed on specific products; when was it imposed and when will it lapse? |

Anti-dumping duties are imposed through a publication in the Government Gazette by the South African Revenue Services (SARS). Anti-dumping duties will stay in place for five years, unless an interested party requests a review of these duties. |

What measures could be taken if an importer cannot get supply of a product, on which an anti-dumping duty has been placed, from the local SACU manufacturer? |

If a product is not available from any SACU manufacturer on a permanent basis, an interested party can apply for the review of the existing anti-dumping duty, subject to certain conditions. There is unfortunately no provision for temporary relief of anti-dumping duties. |

What happens if we initiate or impose anti-dumping against a country with which we have or is in the process of signing a trade agreement? |

Trade agreements usually make provision that anti-dumping action can still be taken by either party, within the provisions of the WTO Anti-dumping agreement. |
