Overall Objective

All-inclusive SMS remuneration package: R 1 196 516 per annum

Requirements: The applicant must be in possession of a Masters degree in Economics preferably specialising in International Trade. A PhD degree will be an added advantage. At least five years of practical experience. Strong quantitative analysis and economic modelling is essential. Ability to formulate clear policy recommendations based on solid analytical work. Knowledge of the New Growth Path (NGP), the Industrial Policy Action Plan and South Africa?s Trade Policy and Strategy Framework (SATPSF). A self-starter with conceptual and strategic focus. Project management and policy development skills are essential.

Key Responsibilities: Reporting to the Chief Commissioner, the main responsibilities of the incumbent are to: Monitor and evaluate trade flows, identifying opportunities and risks in priority sectors. Manage and conduct economic research and impact of ITAC?s instruments. Compile research reports. Provide technical and policy advice to EDD and the dti in respect of ITAC?s instruments based on research. Advise on the alignment of ITAC?s policies, Regulations Guidelines and Practices to the New Growth Path (NGP), the Industrial Policy Action Plan and South Africa?s Trade Policy and Strategy Framework SATPSF.


Recommended candidates will be subjected to competency assessments and reference checks.
