Requirements: The applicant must be in possession of a four year degree in Law and must be admitted as an attorney or advocate. Three (3) to Five (5) years? experience in legal services especially in the field of international trade law, corporate law or administrative law. Preferably three (3) years? experience at a management level. Experience in litigation and legislative drafting. Knowledge of developing and managing contracts, mediations and negotiations.
Key Responsibilities: The successful applicant will be required to: Plan and provide strategic direction to the unit and inspire the team to deliver on operational mandate. Manage and provide legal services to ITAC on its core and business support services, ensure that all legal aspects are handled efficiently and effectively. Manage all civil and criminal litigation within the ambit of applicable policies and laws. Manage the drafting and negotiation of contracts. Manage the review of regulations and guidelines and ensure alignment with other relevant domestic laws, international legal obligations and government policies. Manage and provide legal input to bilateral, regional and multilateral negotiations pertaining to trade remedy, tariff and import and export control aspects. Plan, monitor, evaluate and report on the activities of the unit in order to deliver the desired outputs and outcomes. Contribute to financial management of the unit and management of other resources. Participate in governance structures of ITAC.
